West Coast Elite(WCE) is one of 3STEP Basketball's best event and club runners. They wanted to start a campaign encouraging athletes to be 'ALL IN' so we created a website for them as a landing page from social videos to send them to tryouts and apparel for WCE.
Overview
As the UI & UX designer, my role was to take the sitemap and setup wireframes. After, I created high fidelity designs with those wireframes.
WCE wanted this campaign to lead right into there programming while also promoting others to share the 'ALL IN' message. Our marketing team at 3STEP actually created a logo, hashtag, instagram stickers and many other elements for the campaign. I contributed by making the instagram stickers, and the website design. So our overall goal was to create a unique website that was clear what the message of 'ALL IN' is and could lead the user to navigate to the WCE main site.
Overall Solution
Leveraging my skills, I initiated the creation of a clean design, and responsive pages for the site, creating a consistent visual style. I developed wireframes for the landing page while also creating instagram stickers we also used on the header of the site.
Process
This project was a very quick turn, so we shortened our process a bit for this site. We started off meeting with WCE and learning more about what 'ALL IN' meant and what they wanted to do with it. We learned it was to encourage athletes to be all in on everything they do, from homework, to practice, to learning new skills.
We then moved into low fidelity wireframes with the info they wanted included which was, a video, what 'ALL IN' is, a tryouts link, an apparel link, and showcasing social. Then once approved we moved into high fidelity wireframes and dev as normal.
Low Fidelity Wireframes
I then put together wireframe options. I focused on simplicity, opting to focus on card elements since thats what we decided the overall design would follow as well. As mentioned above, the overall goal is to clearly show what 'ALL IN' means.
For example, we showcased the 'ALL IN' acronym to explain the deeper meaning of the campaign.
Visual Design
After stakeholder reviews, I created high-fidelity designs and worked on branding elements based on the final version of the wireframe.
I began with visual branding. I used consistent font, type, size, and color. I also incorporated balance, proximity, alignment, hierarchy, repetition, and contrast.
I got feedback on my designs and ideated, then used Figma's auto layout and created a component library for all components.
Results
With our teams efforts, WCE got a website, a social campaign, instagram stickers, and a well rounded campaign to better represent their athletes. Ready to push people to be ALL IN.
My Impact
This case study shows my ability to lead the UX portion of the project by showcasing content-focused transformations, while creating high fidelity designs during the UI phase. I was able to showcase my skills in content design, user experience, and collaboration with the other members of my team throughout the process.
